Environmental Education

My environmental workshops vary from traditional, low-tech scavenger hunts to high-tech computer-based instruction modules. All encourage participants to observe and interact with their surroundings and to make and test hypotheses.

I teach all ages and create workshops for individuals, schools, nature centers, and other groups. Instruction can be tailored to your setting and can vary in length from a one-hour "weed walk" to an ongoing series of workshops.

Environmental education and computer technology might seem like a strange mix at first, but in fact, they are quite complimentary. The Web is an incredible storehouse of primary-source information, which is the keystone of the hands-on, exploratory learning I incorporate into my lessons. Computer technology can foster communication and facilitate publication, both of which engage students in a way classroom instruction alone often can't.
